Anthony Joshua has activated his rematch clause against Oleksandre Usyk and their Joshua vs Usyk rematch date is set for 25th June 2022 in Saudi Arabia. The fight is not officially announced yet but it is believed that all been agreed by parties involved. Fight was schedule to take place in London but $120m (£91.7m) offered by Saudi authorities was too good to turn down and agreement was made to host the fight in Jaddah, Saudi Arabia.
Joshua vs Usyk Rematch Clause (Activated):
Anthony Joshua is set to fight Oleksandre Usyk for the second time in his career as having lost the first one. Eddie Hearns and his matchroom promotions have struck the deal with Saudi Arabia authorities to host the fight in Jaddah, Saudi Arabia. Joshua has already fought there against Andy Ruiz which was the rematch as well.
It costed Saudi Arabia $80 million in 2019 to have Joshua vs Ruiz II. However, for Usyk vs Joshua II, site fee has increased 50% where Usyk is guaranteed atleast 50/50 split being WBA, IBF and WBO champion.
Usyk is legally bound to fight Joshua before he can fight anyone else according to clause in the first fight agreement. They fight was suppose to take place in early 2022 but due to Ukraine-Russia conflict and Usyk being part of Ukraine resistance the fight was delayed.
