Michael Schumacher is the most successful Formula 1 driver having won 7 world titles and he is widely regarded as one of the best driver to ever grace the sport. However Lewis Hamilton is closing in with his 6 world titles before the start of F1 2020 season and he is in pole position to not only equal Schamacher’s haul of 7 world titles but eclipse it in couple of years.

Schumacher leads the all-time list of Formula 1 titles with 7 to his name but Lewis Hamilton is closing in who is currently sitting 2nd with 6 world titles.

We take a look at some of the most successful Formula 1 drivers in history. Before we get into drivers with most f1 titles its important to mention that Ferrari and Mercedes have dominated F1 since its inception. Ferrari has won 15 titles while Mclaren has 12 titles.

So a driver under the flag of Ferrari, McLaren or Mercedes today is highly likely to win the F1 title because the power curve have been so steep over the last few decades making this sport a very predictable one to say the least.

But who was the Greatest Formula 1 Driver ?

Above statistics only tell part of the story as it wont do justice to some of the accomplishment F1 drivers have made over the decades.

Prime example being Aryton Senna who won only three F1 titles before he died in F1 car crash but he absolutely changed the way F1 worked. He was exciting, won grand prixs and the titles but also entertained the audience and made f1 main-stream what it is today making Aryton Senna the most loved F1 driver.

Juan Manuel Fangio was another driver who is widely considered as greatest F1 driver. He won 5 f1 titles but the legacy he left behind is untouchable. His grand prix win ratio was incredibly 46% which is still unmatched and its hard to see anyone surpassing that anytime soon.
