National Team Coach: Roberto Mancini:
Over the course of his career he has taken charge of some big clubs including Inter Milan, Manchester City and won silver ware putting together a legacy at where he managed. Since his appointment as Italy head coach, they have won 10 out of 10 qualifying games for Euro 2020 and will go into the tournament with a high moral which is needed after not qualifying for 2018 FIFA World Cup.
Possible Starting Lineups:
Mancini deploys 4-3-3 system with Insigne, Immobile and Chiesa playing as front three while midfield trio of Barrela, Jorginho and Lucatelli provide stability in middle of the park. Mancini is likely to pick one of the vatern duo of Chiellini and Bonucci alongside one younger centre back which might be Toloi or Bastoni. Florenzi and Emerson set to play as fullbacks and provide support both on defense and attack. Gianluigi Donnarumm will start as goal keeper and will be his first major tournament as Italy no.1
Players To watch Out For:
Alot is expected of Inter Milan’s young center back Alessandro Bastoni who is likely to start alongside either Chiellini and Bonucci. Historically Italy always had great defenders and he is one for the future. Roberto Mancini will be hoping his steps up to the big occassion. Apart from Bastoni there are two other names in Manuel Locatelli and Nicolò Barella who are highly sought after in Italy. Both play dynamic roles in Central midfield alongside Jorginho and will be key to Italy’s system where they hope to control the midfield.
Federico Chiesa is another name who have been in great form in 2020/21 season and alot is expected from the Juventus winger who will be hoping to leave his mark at the international stage.
