Netherlands are heading into the UEFA Euro 2020 competition as dark horses. They have relatively good squad on paper but they they have not won UEFA Euro match since 2008. They lost all three of their group games in Euro 2012 and failed to qualify for Euro 2016. National Team Coach: Frank De Boer:
De Boer have had slow start since taking over as National team coach after Ronald Koeman joined FC Barcelona. 4 wins in the opening 8 games is not what people expected from this dutch side. Many former dutch players and fans are not convinced with his style of play and authority. However this young dutch side have players who might do well under a coach like him. De Boer have some issues to solve before the squad is announced with Van Dijk recovering from long term injury Boer have to decide whether include him in the squad or not having not played for over a year.
Possible Starting Lineup:
Boer is likely to continue with his 4-2-3-1 system as he takes the team away from traditionally dutch style of 4-3-3. Donyell Malen, Berghuis and Berghuis are likely to start in attacking roles behind number nine Memphis Depay. While Wijanaldum and De Jong to play in central midfield roles. Luuk De Jong and Babel will be used as impact sub depending on how the game is going.
Dumfries and Patrick Van Holt might be given the nod as full backs with De Leigt and Van Dijk (if fit) should start as central defenders. Marco Bizot has been regular for Frank De Boer as keeper and we expect him to retain his place in the side.
Players To Watch Out For: Ryan Gravenberch and Donyell Malen
Apart from the usual suspects of Van Dijk, De Jong, De Leigt and Depay, this dutch team have some very exciting young players. Likes of Ryan Gravenberch and Donyell Malen are relatively unknown outside Holland and they might play a big role for Netherland’s Euro 2020 campaign. Malen has scored 17 league goals in 2020/21 campaign and he is someone fans outside Holland should be keeping and eye on.
