Lifting the FIFA world cup is the biggest dream of any Football player. Many players got their hands on this prestigious trophy. Few players even won more than one world cup. Then there are some Greatest players without WorldCup Trophy who got retired or going to retire.

Total 21 edition of Worldcup is being held in the past, yet some of the great names in football never won.

Leo Messi

Leo Messi came so close to winning the Worldcup in 2014 but lost the final to Germany by a 1-0 margin. The little magician was a standout player in the 2014 world cup and won the Golden ball.

However, that’s not what he was looking for as the player often says many times “My aim is to win Worldcup with Argentina”.

Little Magician won the Copa America 2016 with Argentina and lift his first International trophy. He is now aiming to win the next year’s Worldcup.

Once again he will be in action in next year’s world cup which will probably be his final.

Cristiano Ronaldo

Despite having a wonderful career and winning almost every trophy in football history yet never even reached the Worldcup final.

Cr7 is considered the epitome of hard work and skills but his dedication always fell short on the greatest stage of all.

He won the Euro 2016 and 2019 Nations leagues with the national team but failed to directly qualify for next year’s WorldCup.

Now they have to face Italy in the European Worldcup qualifiers in order to reach the top 32. However, next year’s Worldcup will be his final.

John Cruyff

Regarded as the best European player of all time and founder of Modern day/ Total Football, John Cruff never won a single edition of the FIFA Worldcup. John Cruyff took the Netherlands to two finals but did not manage to win.

In 1974, John’s Cruyff team was the hot favorite to win it but luck had some other plans. His arch Rival Gerrad Muller scored the winning goal and handed him one of the world cup finals losses.

David Bechkam

leader of the Golden generation of England football team which includes the name like Lampard, Gerrard, Ashly cole, yet he never manages to reach the semi-final. Flashy and the stylish mid-fielder gameplay awareness was second to none.

He won more than 20 trophies in his football career. His free-kick goal in the qualifier of 2002 WorldCup earn him the name of ”Bend it like Beckham”


Nothing is taken from their legendary career as these players prove their worth again & again in matches. Somehow, their luck run short in the greatest stage and never won Fifa Worldcup.

Wining a WorldCup is a team-based effort. A single player can not win the tournament all alone.

The team combinations play an important role to win the match or sometimes a bit of luck in the extra time will be enough to win the WorldCup.
